Norfolk State Football Stadium Assessment
Project Overview
Norfolk State University engaged the structural engineering team to evaluate concerns regarding the condition and safety of its 30,000-seat multipurpose stadium. The investigation included a comprehensive assessment of the stadium’s structural steel framing, with particular attention given to areas showing signs of water infiltration and deterioration.
The assessment ultimately uncovered significant concealed deterioration beneath the stadium ramps. Selective demolition provided access to previously inaccessible areas, allowing the team to identify the extent of deterioration and provide NSU with a clearer understanding of the existing structure and the areas requiring attention.
“Joe has been our go-to structural engineering partner at NSU. His responsiveness and attention to detail have been evident across the many projects he has assisted us with over the years. He has consistently been someone we can rely on when we need structural engineering support.”
BSG’s founder served as the Structural Engineer of Record during previous professional employment.
