VB Green Garage Assessment and Repairs
Project Overview
Located in the heart of Virginia Beach Town Center, this nine-story, approximately 475,000-square-foot parking garage is one of the city’s largest parking structures. The project began with a comprehensive structural condition assessment to evaluate the existing garage and identify deterioration requiring repair or continued monitoring.
The investigation identified conditions throughout the structure including concrete spalling at elevated slabs and guard walls, as well as areas of exposed reinforcing steel. Following the field assessment, a detailed report documented the observed conditions and prioritized recommended repairs into short- and long-term actions, providing the owner with a practical roadmap for maintenance planning.
The project progressed into a subsequent repair phase, with construction documents developed to address the identified deterioration. The repair design established procedures and locations for the required structural repairs and was coordinated with the project cost estimator to develop a construction budget.
